Large Gas Flare just north of Shafter

Description

This flare burns continuously just southwest of the corner of Mannel and Merced less than one mile north of Shafter. Sometimes, like today, the flames are 10 ft in length. Other days the flames are smaller. An oil field worker commented that they were unable to sell the natural gas coming up with the oil so they had to flare all the gas. This flare is polluting our air with NOx and VOC emissions. It is also producing green house gases with no economic benefit.
