Odor nuisance

At around 10am on 2.10.26 I noticed a foul odor in my community. The description of the odor was of a combination of a soldering/metal, burnt oil and toxic substance. It was so strong it caused my eyes and nose to water as well as a terrible headache. I went out and pinned the smell to a tower on a property near Holloway Rd. I also called the air district and filed a complaint. An inspector did make its way out to Lost Hills but was unable to confirm the smell. I asked that he please stick around for a little longer to see if the smell would return but I don’t believe this was done. This smell is an issue in our community but not for a long period of time like it was yesterday.

Air District inspector visited two areas near Lost Hills where the odor could've originated from. However, upon further contact with the community member by IVAN staff, the origination of the odor was possible coming from an address further up Holloway Rd. Inspector was notified and will reinspect the area the following day (2/12)
Thursday 12 February 2026
The air district inspector went out and conducted an inspection of the accurate area provided by the community member. They drove and walked around the city of Lost Hills and detected no odor. They then drove the to the address provided by the community member and observed a oil rig tower. He detected no odor near the site. He continued to the northern end of Holloway Rd but detected no odor. The report is now closed with no findings of violation or confirmation of reported odor.
